The high cost of high demand

If you are dreaming of buying the latest cell phone which you can not afford…here is what you need to think about.

The latest in the market is always expensive, cus simply everyone wants one…so if you can’t afford it what can you do?

Think of the previous release of this cell phone. the price was hot once released then after few months the price got discounted…

So all you have to do is wait a little while before you can buy this latest release.

I hear you say, I don’t get it, why can’t I get one now?!

Well, let’s have a look on the dusty book shelf here…

The development cost are naturally high in the beginning…especially when the manufacture needs to compensate for high losses generated from product guarantee and returns…

If the product is in high demand the manufacturer is in much obligation to delver as much order as he can and repay his investors…as the demand tapers off the consumer starts to have the advantage, as the manufacturer wants to keep selling he will try to attract more customers by lowering the price…

and so the price keeps going lower and lower as fewer people are demanding the product by the time.

Again, I hear you say, what if I don’t want to wait?!

Then you will have to pay for your impatience…

Take the advice, give couple of months more and watch how the price will start to lower…

And remember, price is always determined by the relationship between supply and demand, so if you wanna bargain the price, be patient and wait for the supply to increase, or the demand to decrease.

This is exactly how to do it! I’ve found that as an adult I can be patient and wait for the price to drop, only as a kid was I demanding things (and not getting!) the moment they came out!

Good post. In addition, you’ll notice that when a product first launches the price is really high. But most times the 2nd version opens up at a lower price than the 1st version originally did.

A rule of thumb that I use: Whenever I want to buy a new gadget or gizmo, I wait a month and see how I really feel. Usually after the month ends I see I don’t really need.

This is so true. Everyone wants things right now. However if it is something you truly want, you should be able to wait for it, right? Thanks for sharing this post.

Great advice, It is so easy to get swayed by the latest advertising, but if you can hold off buying you will be financially rewarded.

Excellent points. I just picked up a one generation old (9 months) iMac. The thing is the ‘old’ top of the line that cost me less than a middle of the road current edition, yet is much faster. Patience is a virtue…

This is really one awesome post! Exactly human nature. When the iPhone was released, I was itching to have one. But then I waited and got it in a much lesser price. It’s still iPhone. Keep up the cool posts!

Hey I think your ideas are great. Are you an economist? This one is very brilliant – “The latest in the market is always expensive, cus simply everyone wants one…” I love it.

I really agree with your article here. I’ve been a good product buyer and I believe that getting new products could also be in a low cost basis as long as you are in the right timing.. This a great post.

You must be writing this so that you can turn around and show your kids the article! Good points, I agree. Parents taught me how to wait for prices to come down at a young age!…

This is some great information for people looking to buy the newest things on the market. The smartest thing is for people to wait. But you also teach us about the high cost of high demand.

  14. PR 15 October 2010 at 4:17 am #

I do agree with your article. We always have to consider the market value of the things we want to buy. We could always have the things that we want but in the right time. We need not to hurry and spend so much just to have our extravagance. Be wise!

  15. Harvard Referencing 19 October 2010 at 3:36 am #

Great idea, I often wait a few months. Or even better – quite often the older model is still better than the one I’m using and now loads of people are trying to sell it on for dead cheap, so I grab one of those!

  16. Atlanta Data Center 20 October 2010 at 2:20 am #

I agree with you. What is latest in the market costs a lot. It actually hurts pockets and wallets and even bank accounts. So if you want to buy something, you need to wait for several months until the sensation slowly dies down. If it dies down, the price slowly goes down. That’s it. Nice post.

I do agree too. Nowadays the cost of supplies is very high, but we have nothing to do with it, it’s part of our living. All we have to do is to choose the primary needs for our family. Also we have to wait the bargains or sales, just in case the price will mark down.

Its common economics – demand goes up, supply goes down and price quickly shoots up!

This is ought to be. Hoping for an item that you really want but cost too much is freakin’ bad. I guess that’s the best way to buy it, just be stable enough and wait for the rolling months until it gets discounted.

Patience is a virtue. There are actually things that we want because it’s the latest item in the market. But we should consider the money that we will spend buying such latest product. So if you are really eager to have one, better wait for the right time when you can afford to purchase such. Thanks for this nice post. I’ll bookmark this to my friends.

Nice post but I know some people who would not settle for the previous version. Some people want the latest version only because it’s latest. They do not crave for the cell phone itself that much as they do for staying in the latest trends. Otherwise your suggestion is very much applicable. On the other hand I’ve also seen people going for a cheaper pirated version. Different people, different priorities :)

When we were young we want the things that almost everybody have. Of course, we did everything, many tears were wasted begging to our parents to buy those things for us. But, as I grow older I realized that it is definitely right to wait for a little while. I was once a victim of impulse buying just because it is the latest in the field. After I bought that thing I realized that I settled for a poor quality. That is why, today, I really think deeply before I go over the things that is the latest in the field. We won’t get hurt if we waited for a while before we get that thing, right?

I’ve been involved in on-line content and blogging for a few years and can attest that focus on a topic and value in the information being shared is the key. In my beginnings I was anxious to get anything out there, just for the thrill of seeing my content on the net. Later, as what I had been doing started turning into a business, I established very specific ground rules for the type of content I would work with and focused intently on making it as good as I could. I now operate several sites. This one was recently launched and is focused on options trading (my formal training and background).

Bottom line, if you treat what you’re doing on-line as a business, you quickly learn how to maximize your return on invested time and effort and that you are serving an audience that can tell the difference between valuable content and crap.

I agree with you but all cell phone company has strategies that they are not giving the same functionality in all their products they always lack some functionality then and then their business grow so if you afford to buy latest one then go for it.
