Kids Fundraising Ideas

Fun and Easy Kids Fundraising Ideas

There are many reasons kids need to participate in fundraising activities, from needing money for a field trip, a competitive event, new things for their schools, or for a charity. Finding fun and easy kids fundraising ideas that kids will enjoy and which will make good money, will spell success all around, and make kids want to do it again the next time funds are needed.

Kids Fundraising Ideas – Run or Walk-a-thons

This is a great option to get kids networking with their extended family members and neighbors. Mom and Dad can even take the sponsor sheets to work to enlist the support of their co-workers, but wherever possible, it is best to have the kids participate in securing pledges. The events are also beneficial in encouraging kids to exercise. Other options are biking, or Orienteering activities – pledges can be tied for speed of orienteering or distances rode. These events are great social gatherings that are memorable as well.

Kids Fundraising Ideas – Popcorn Stands

kids fundraising ideas

It goes without saying that popcorn is a popular snack choice for kids and adults. The best place to have a popcorn stand is in a school hallway, gym, or other space that is well trafficked. You can either choose to rent a large popper and get bags to sell the popcorn in, or simply sell bags or boxes of microwavable popcorn. This can be done frequently as needs arise, and is something that people won’t grow tired of.

Kids Fundraising Ideas – Movie Night

This is a fun, social event with many opportunities for kids to participate in. Choosing a location, such as a school gym or community center, will allow for sufficient seating space and projector room. You can hold a movie night every couple of weeks, once a month, or whenever the need arises. Beforehand, votes for the movie can be taken through a suggestion box based on a selection of audience-appropriate films. Then, on the night in question, kids can help make popcorn, serve pop and candy, and take tickets. Some kids can also help set up and take down chairs, and provide cleanup afterwards. Kids can also help design and print up flyers, then distribute them. Ensuring you have ample leadtime for advertising will gain maximum participation.

Kids Fundraising Ideas – Bake sale

A bake sale is always a popular fundraising event. People can’t resist home-baked goodies, and will often buy lots to fill up their freezers. It’s also something that kids can do with their parents, so they can be proud of their accomplishments, and you will have some fun memories spent baking cakes, cookies, pies, cupcakes, and tarts, or other special family recipes. For bake sales, one thing to make sure of is that all ingredients are listed, to help people with allergies or food preferences know what they are buying. Kids can use masking tape to price items, and also help to decorate and wrap them. Watch the supplies of baked goods disappear before your eyes!

Kids Fundraising Ideas – Put on a play or musical

A fun and engaging fundraising idea for both parents and kids is to put on a play or musical. Choosing one with a large cast of characters is best, so that a maximum number of kids can participate. It would help to enlist the help of a drama and/or music teacher to assist the kids in learning the lines and numbers. Hosting this event in a school gymnasium works well. Kids who don’t wish to be on stage, can volunteer as ushers, ticket-takers, or help to make and distribute flyers. It’s a great way to raise money and be creative.

Finding fun and easy kids fundraising ideas are not only great for the kids, but they are also easy for busy parents to take on. Make sure you advertise the event in advance to gain good participation, and have the kids be responsible for the various volunteer positions that may be required, such as cash-handling, handing out flyers, set up and take down activities, and manning booths. These suggestions can make the events memorable, and profitable, while nurturing caring and engaged kids. Use these suggestions the next time your kids need to raise money, and have fun doing it.

These are fun ideas. Anyone who wants to help classrooms fundraise should explore http://www.AdoptAClassroom.org which is a national nonprofit that’s had a lot of success raising money to help get classroom supplies to help students succeed. You can adopt a classroom and 100% of your donation goes to that classroom. PTA and PTO groups can get involved as well to support the school fundraising effort.

Run/Walk-a-thons are excellent ideas. I don’t know why I failed to think of this when we had a fund raising at my daughter’s school. I’ve always encouraged sports and active play with my kids. I would have loved to somehow get them into running or walking as a form of exercise.

Raise money, have fun and provide an evening of entertainment for your community by putting on a play. It will take some planning, and some time for rehearsals and advertising, but it guarantees to be a fun and exciting way to raise money for your group. Find out if your local theater will let you use their auditorium, or check with local schools to see if any of them have an appropriate facility. Choose a play with a lot of roles to get as many members of your group involved as possible. Be sure that everyone will be able to gather for rehearsals. Those who aren’t in the play can help by donating items to be used as props, and by selling tickets. Assign a few group members to be ushers on the night the play takes place. Post fliers around your community, and advertise on social networking websites. Local TV and radio stations might also be willing to broadcast information about your play. You don’t need to get fancy with built and painted sets. Depending on the play you choose to put on, something as simple as a small table and a couple of chairs can suffice as a set. The object is to put on a good show and raise money for a good cause. If it’s a success, you can make it an annual event. Bravo!

As kids, my parents always encourages us to spend a portion of our school vacation earning some money. My sister, brothers and I would sometimes offer to wash our neighbors’ cars, sell flavored ice pops on our yard or offer to take out the trash every night for our nest door neighbor. whatever money we earned, we had the option to either buy something or put it into our own saving accounts.

I remember when I was way back 10 years old then, me and my cousin really made a fund raising. We go to each houses and sing for a Christmas song and sell a lot of lemonade to raise money for orphanage. We buy a lot of things for all kids there. Its really fun. :D

I might recommend looking into some type of t shirt sales with a screen print saying on them. It could be something funny or something location relavent. You could have them screen printed or the kids could learn to do it themselves with some help.

One of the issues is copyright. However if it is a kids venture and kepts low then respond to any cease and decist letter and move on to another saying or logo.

Lots of T shirts can be sold to those associated with the charity, school, location, or community.

    Just an idea.
